I just watched a video of Eve Ensler talking about The Vagina Monologues, what led her to write it and what writing it has led her (and many others) to. It has made me feel ashamed for making such a casually idiotic mistake, but never mind, I can live with being an idiot sometimes. More surprising is that I have suddenly started liking that sweater! And, I may have to knit one and wear it, as a kind of apologetic penance. It has also set me thinking about all sorts of things, like my response to the sweater in the first place, why I might have had that and how our individual histories can sneak up on us when we are least expecting them to. And how that creates an opportunity to re-think and tweak how we are in the world - both on a day to day local basis, and in the global community.
