ok it seems I got it wrong. The Vagina Monologues is/are a play (set of monologues) written by Eve Ensler. I haven't seen them myself, but have heard that they are fantastic. So my deep apologies to Eve Ensler, and anyone else who is offended/horrified by my mistake. I was thinking of the work of installation art by Judy 'someone'....the name escapes me, who did a large work (with contributors I believe) of plates - very impressive infact, which was heavy with images and shapes very reminiscent of vaginas! I expect you will have all noticed that a great deal of textile art (especially from the late 60s/70s was heavy with this kind of imagery - I have been guilty of it myself it is almost unavoidable and perhaps a natural response to the exploration of the drape and fold and inherent qualities of textile material, let alone the deeper implications of what may reside in our collective animal instinctive memory of what is important/valued/meaningful). I will try to remember her name - Judy, Judy, Judy......
