knitting olympics
I am a late starter on this....and already feeling I have bitten off far more than I can chew, I may even be the Eddie Eagle of sock knitting. Have decided to tackle SKEW,an amazing sock pattern by LANA HOLDEN. I have knitted maybe three pairs of socks, on dpns. This means I need to master the 2 circs technique, getting that and loving it so far. But somehow I don't rate my chances as coming in as a finisher. But I really want to make these babies. They are just brilliant. Plus have promised my Mathsy friend, with whom I watched the horizon programme about infinity, which provided lots of laughs - crazy european mathematicians, typewriting monkeys and the guy getting paid to recreate that experiment where a typewriting monkey will eventually turn out the complete works of Shakespeare given long enough - and of course given that all things are possible in an infinite universe, or any one of the infinitely many infinite universes that our reality now appears to be made up of....., this means that somewhere he will get a pair for his birthday in April, and I will come in on time for the end of the olympics too. Might make it in this universe too, maybe. I really am an optimist, and for some reason the infinite possibilities stuff makes me feel even more so. This is my third, no fourth attempt at casting on and knitting the first four rows. This looks good now....will post, row by agonising handful of rows probably....
