OK. Maybe I shouldn't have let it get warm. Nonetheless, it was REVOLTING.
It was like drinking someone else's saliva. Slimy, salty and with a faint but decided twang of vomit. Seriously, does any one genuinely like drinking this stuff?
This was a much (much much) longer post about coconut water. But it all got a bit convoluted and messy so I decided to just warn you off the nasty stuff.
I hate all these blinking healthy food fads. Bet your bottom dollar some poor farmer somewhere is being exploited at every turn or the spike in global demand has terrible long term consequences.
Rant over.
(...by the way, I have had fresh coconut water straight from a coconut, and it was - if memory serves me right - delicious. I suspect that, like many things experienced on sub-tropical holidays, the experience can never be satisfactorily replicated back at home)
