I am feeling - and looking - much better now thanks. Bit of weird one...
...to go from this:
...to this:
...over the course of about 5 or 6 days.
Nelson (and his housemate) have been incredibly kind and gentle and patient with me. And I have to mention the staff - in particular the young blonde lass - at a particular branch of AmCal/ChemPro pharmacy at the Q Super Centre, who could not have been more kind, sympathetic, and eager to find something that would ease my discomfort. Even though I was actually over the worst by the time these lovely people met me, not everyone has been so kind, including other pharmacists believe it or not.
I don't go out when it's really bad, hence the house-arrest: first off it's just too painful and sensitive, but also I'll admit I feel too self-conscious. I don't like to think I'm vain, but of course people can't help but do a double-take, and everyone is thinking something or other...'poor cow', 'silly cow, doesn't she know about suncream?', or maybe 'bet she likes a drink..' Anyway...on the mend now.
Also a very very big big thank you to the moderators of this online forum, and to the people on there who responded to me so swiftly and with such kindness, empathy, supportiveness, and some bloody useful advice and insights.
So, after a rough few days, I was more than ready for a little walk along the beach in the cooler, early evening air. There was a bit of a storm brewing and a nice breeze. And there was this, one of the coolest rainbows I've seen for a while...
...it was cool because you could see the whole, semi-circle 'bow' from end to end, like a huge unashamedly hippie-fied entrance to the wildest, most way out festival ever! My little camera doesn't have the chops to catch such a wide angle view so sadly I can't show the full on glory of it, you'll just have to take my word for it.
The skies here do feel extraordinarily big, though. Norfolk is famed for it's amazing open skyscapes, and of course they are glorious...but seriously, it really does feel like the sky here is bigger. Seeing an unbroken rainbow only made it seem more so.
(I'm not going to add a cheesy caption saying 'look what I found at the end of the rainbow' even though I really want to) |
And then we found this:
Just the one, a lonely blue blubber jelly. They do sting, but not the domed top, which is amazingly firm and not at all blubbery as it happens. It's those bits that look like blue broccolli that'll get you. Nelson says it's not that bad, a nasty ouch maybe, though not dangerous to humans.
But sometimes this happens:
Sorry - dreadful photo, but you get the gist. Bit like that rainbow but not as good. Then we went and browsed very expensive sunglasses in the Oakley outlet...(keep your fingers crossed Steve xxx).
Oh go on then, one more rainbow. Peace and love x
